PrototypeRadio, is a pioneering electronic music radio program that broadcasted exclusive DJ mixes and interviews from some of the biggest electronic musicians in the world. PrototypeRadio first launched as an online radio station and evolved into terrestrial radio with America's largest radio broadcast company iHeartMedia on 105.7 WWVA-FM and 96.7 WWLG-FM in Atlanta, GA.

The program served as one of the first radio program of its kind within terrestrial radio in the US, as traditionally EDM radio programs provide content and music from local DJs and on-air personalities with dance music remixes of the radio stations playlist or specific genres within electronic music.

The program featured an exclusive one-hour-long DJ set from world renowned DJs and producers and followed up with 3 additional hours of electronic music programmed like a traditional terrestrial radio station.

PrototypeRadio’s music selection consisted of everything in the electronic music spectrum including House, Techno, Progressive, Trance, Electro, IDM, Dubstep, Drum & Bass, Breakbeat, and beyond.

The program was created with the intent to bring quality and uncompromised dance music to traditional radio in the way it has never been done before featuring artists that created the genres to the newest superstars in the industry. The program resulted in good ratings within the first quarter of broadcasting on a reporting radio station in a top ten major market.

A senior executive of the newly launched iHeartRadio mobile application took notice of the program and launched it on iHeart for national syndication 5 times a week after its 6th episode, introducing the program and its guest to an unquestionably larger audience and quickly established PrototypeRadio as a source for electronic music on radio in the United States. 

75% of the artists featured on the program debuted on American terrestrial radio and iHeartRadio on PrototypeRadio.

In 2011 PrototypeRadio formed a partnership with the leading music production digital audio workstation company in the world Ableton, making it the only company Ableton has ever sponsored in the history of the company to date.

PrototypeRadio served as the official media sponsor for countless electronic music festivals such as Identity Festival, CounterPoint Music Festival, all three years of TomorrowWorld, Imagine Music Festival and exclusively covered the electronic music stage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival featuring Deadmau5, Calvin Harris, and Swedish House Mafia.

In addition to sponsoring festivals and events, the program also presented events in Atlanta with artists such as Tiesto, Deadmau5, Steve Duda, Tommy Lee, DJ Aero, Steve Aoki, Skrillex, Green Velvet, Korn, Datsik, Downlink, Dope D.O.D, Calvin Harris, New World Punx (Markus Schulz, Ferry Corsten), Amon Tobin, 3LAU, Machine Gun Kelly, Bad Boy Bill, Doctor P, Mimosa, Mt. Eden, Nadastrom, Ace Hood, Doc Martin, and DJ Pierre.

 

In 2012 PrototypeRadio was aproached by Astrelwerks to host Swedish House Mafia's final album listening party "Until Now" before it was released globally. This album was a significat milestone in electronic music as it marked the supergroup's then final album.

 

 

The program is scheduled to return in the summer of 2023 with new initiatives and broadcast partners.
